Arizona does not require any license for repossessors. It is not a right to cure state, meaning that there is no requirement for the lender or the repo company to give the debtor prior written notice before seizing the vehicle. The exception to this is if the debtor signed the contract in a right to cure state like Missouri. The lender should be aware of where the contract was signed and the legal requirements to recover the collateral. The Uniform Commercial Code mandates that self help repossession is permitted so long as the peace is not breached during the repossession process. Once the vehicle is attached to the tow truck and the police have been notified the vehicle is deemed to have been officially repossessed.
Arizona has been plagued with an extreme amount of sub leasing scams. It has become such a problem that Arizona has passed legislation to protect lien holders: Arizona Revised Statutes 13-3717, the unauthorized subleasing of a motor vehicle is classified as a Class 1 Misdemeanor. Furthermore, depending on the severity of the offense, these actions can escalate to a Class 5 Felony under statutes governing the theft of services or the failure to return leased property. A sub leasing scam is a situation where: Someone advertises their vehicle for sale. A scammer contacts them and offers to lease their vehicle from them for more money than their monthly payment to the bank. Once the scammer has possession of the vehicle they never pay the owner anything. The police refuse to get involved as it is a civil matter. Their lien holder ends up suing them and they probably don't even know the person's real name that has their vehicle. Never fear, our license plate reader cameras probably already know where your collateral is located. Call Speedy repo today to recover your vehicle!
Speedy Repo is one of the only repo companies in Arizona that performs private party repossessions.
