We honed our craft and bought more tow trucks and started equipping them with Eagle Claws, no one could "Hook and Book" as quickly as Speedy Repo could. License plate reader cameras were first built in 1976 but were not commercially available until 2000. Speedy Repo invested heavily in the technology and it paid off. We were able to locate and recover collateral that our competition was never able to find. Now we are buying real time satellite images to look for collateral hidden behind houses or fences. It's not as expensive as you would think. We can buy a 5 square kilometer high resolution image for $5. We experimented with drones to look behind buildings or fences, but when you calculate the time and fuel it takes to drive there, satellite imaging was by far a much better deal. Yes satellites move and we can't get an image if there is not a satellite above the target, but within 4 hours there will be and we can get the picture we want. The technology is best used for locating vehicles that are not being driven, but hidden behind fences or buildings. Another good use is if you have a repossession assignment that is more than a twenty minute drive away. If the satellite is overhead, take your picture and verify the collateral is in the driveway before you drive there and back.

Speedy-Repo is one of a few repossession agencies that accepts private party repossession assignments. We routinely handle repossessions between family members, divorce disputes, and terminated employees. Private party repossessions are any repossessions that occur without a promissory note, or a lease agreement, or any repossession falling outside of the typical debtor to bank relationship. Traditionally, private party assignments are more difficult because there are a lot more emotions involved. People understand that when they don't make their car payment the bank is going to send us out to repo their car. This isn't the case when little Timmy steals his aunt's SUV. Timmy feels entitled and will fight tooth and nail to keep the vehicle he has zero rights to. This is one of the main reasons why most agencies won't accept private party assignments.

Whatever you do, please don't tip off the other party that you are sending out a repo agent to pick up the vehicle. Many individuals will hide the vehicle or even intentionally damage your vehicle if you tip them off.
