The commonwealth of Louisiana has some odd laws regarding repossession and mandatory to payments that need to be paid directly to public officials in cash. (Yes, very shady) Louisiana requires that the following mandatory fees be paid to the following local officials. Whenever a repossession is done in Louisiana a "Notice of Repossession" must be filed within three days of the repo being completed with the Recorder of Mortgages in the parish where the repossession was performed along with a $75 fee. An additional $250 fee must be paid to the bailiff for the parish where the repossession was performed. Louisiana does require that anyone performing repossession services must be licensed by the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions. Louisiana is not a "right to Cure" state so the lender does not have any requirements to let the debtor know that their vehicle is about to be repossessed. This does not apply if the debtor signed the contract in a right to cure state then moved to Louisiana. Federal law does insist that the peace may not be breached during any repossession.

Louisiana Title and Repossession Requirements
Louisiana Repossession Title State: License and Registration information refer to: State of Louisiana, Repo Motor Vehicle Division, P.O. Box 64886, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70896
Louisiana Repossession Recording: Recorded on Parish basis. Repo Liens on motor vehicles must be recorded on title.
Louisiana Repossession Recovery: The debtor is required to sign a Louisiana Repossession voluntary surrender and release prior to the lien holder or repossessor taking possession of the collateral.
Louisiana Repossession Redemption: Not permitted after repo sale of collateral. (Some question if conditional sales repossessions are valid.)
Louisiana Repossession Deficiency: Not permitted unless seized through the court pursuant to a chattel mortgage foreclosure and sale. Confession notes are invalid.
Special Motor Vehicle Provisions: Chattel mortgages recorded on Certificate with the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles Div. and another with the Clerk of Court in Parish where debtor resides.
Louisiana Repossession Documents Required to Transfer Ownership of Motor Vehicle: Title in lien holders name (any state) notarized Bill of Sale (showing amount, buyers name, date of sale) or title in lien holders name with lien released, Notarized affidavit of Repossession, completed notarized Bill of Sale.
Louisiana Repossession Plates: Remain with the vehicle or repossessor.
