Rhode Island does not license repossession agents or repo companies. Rhode Island is a "Right to Cure" state. Creditors are mandated to provide formal notice before initiating a repossession. If an account becomes 10 days delinquent, the lender must issue a written notice specifying the total amount due to cure the delinquency of the loan. Lenders are only required to provide this 'Right to Cure' notification once within any 12-month period. Federal law regulating repossessions is called the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). It mandates that every repossession be conducted peacefully. Once an asset is secured, the lender is required to send a certified letter to the debtor outlining their right to get the collateral back. This notice serves as a formal warning of the pending public auction and explains that the debtor has the opportunity to stop the sale by paying off the loan in full. If the debtor pays the loan off in full within the prescribed 15 days the lien holder will give the collateral back to the debtor.
Our Rhode Island repo agents possess extensive expertise in the recovery of marine assets most of us are lifelong boaters and fishermen. Newport has been a sailing community for a century. In an average month we normally recover sail boats, jet skis, and luxury yachts. We employ professional, licensed boat captains capable of managing the repossession of large ships and commercial vessels. For assets that exceed land-transport dimensions, we maintain exclusive partnerships with marinas to provide secure, in-water storage. We have a variety of hydraulic trailers that enable us to move smaller boats. Speedy Repo remains the industry leader in Rhode Island, offering the specialized equipment, skilled manpower, and maritime experience necessary for complex waterborne recoveries. We have you covered for repossession of any boat you are after.
Speedy Repo has taken skip tracing to the Twenty-first century through the use of license plate reader (LPR) cameras. If you aren't familiar with LPR camera networks, this is how they work. When a license plate comes into view of a LPR camera, the computer controlling the camera recognizes that it sees a license plate. The computer zooms in so that the license plate and the vehicle it is attached to and then takes a digital picture. The computer then tags the picture with the date, time and GPS coordinates of where tha picture was taken. The computer then runs optical character recognition (OCR) software on the license plate image. OCR converts the picture of the license plate to the alpha numeric characters in the license plate. This is what makes it possible for us to input a license plate number into our system and perform searches for vehicles.
